Charles Opoku was born on the 6th of May, 1983, to Opanyin Akwesi Opoku and Maame Afia Akyaa all of Assin Bereku, in the Central Region of Ghana. He is one of eight (8) siblings of his parents.
Mpuntuowura or Assin North Boafo) as he is affectionately called, Charles had his basic school education at Bereku D/C JHS in Assin Bereku before continuing to the Assin North Secondary Technical School for his Senior High Education. He later studied at the Cape Coast Technical University, where he received a Higher National Diploma in Electrical/ Electronic Engineering.
Charles had his National Service at Goldfields Ghana Limited, Tarkwa Gold Mine, he was later employed by Silent Star Electrical, Tarkwa, as an electrical supervisor. He made a mark during his National Service days and Goldfields Ghana Limited would poach him to occupy the role of Electrical Technician in the year 2009, he would progress to the position of acting Superintendent, CIL plant.
In 2014, he was awarded a Degree in Business Administration by the University of The People, USA. Charles has taken a number of professional development and certificate courses, which afforded him the opportunity to serve in a higher office as an electrical engineer at Goldfields Ghana Limited, Tarkwa. He has received a number of promotions at the company, the most recent of them in 2018.
Charles Opoku is the CEO of the Akosua Baako Foundation, which operates in the Assin North District. People of all ages have benefited from his philanthropic work, including institutions like schools and faith-based organizations. His foundation provides support for the sick, aged, petty traders, farmers, students, market women, and the unemployed through free vocational training and cash donations. Charles is very popular and loved in Assin North because of his philanthropic activities.
Charles Opoku’s interest in frontline politics is driven mainly by his innate desire to help better the lot of the oppressed in society and to avail himself for his community and Nation at large.
He is a Christian with the Church of Pentecost (CoP) and married to the beautiful Mrs. Georgina Opoku; with whom he has four (4) beautiful children. In his spare time, Charles enjoys reading, philanthropic works, and engaging deprived persons.
