Report by Samuel QUAO.
The Member of Parliament for Achiase Constituency, Hon. Kofi Ahenkorah Marfo, in collaboration with the
District Chief Executive of Akyem Achiase, Hon. Richmond Kofi Amponsah together with Coliso an NGO has cut
sod for the construction of a water project in Akyem Akenkansu.
The water project is worth Three Hundred Thousand Ghana Cedis (GH300,000.00).
Eighty percent (80%) of the project will be funded by Coliso whiles twenty percent of the project will be funded
by the DCE and MP.
Hon. Kofi Ahenkorah Marfo in his address stated that after he was elected as the MP for the Constituency he met
the chairman of Coliso who happened to be his senior at secondary school and they had an interaction which his
senior made it clear to him that they will be supporting the constituency. This is what they do to support
communities in Ghana but they will pay Eighty percent whiles the constituency pays Twenty percent of the project
cost.
According to the MP, immediately after the chairman of Coliso spoke to him about the project, he agreed and asked  for
a contract to be signed so that they can start work immediately.
The first community that benefited from the project is Akyem Anamase because they needed clean water at that
time. This is the second time Coliso will be doing the same project in the constituency.
He urged the people to contribute their quota to the project by digging the pipelines for the work to be successful.
He assured them of his involvement and supervision to the end of the project.
The District Chief Executive of Akyem Achiase, Hon. Richmond Kofi Amponsah, said last year November 2023,
he had a chat with his former school colleague who is now the Country Representative of Coliso, a Ghanaian based
NGO in Belgium, Mr. Acheampong and they talk about how best they can also provide water to the people of
Akyem Akenkansu. He was told they have exhausted with the list of communities for the period.  He said he didn't
give up but continue to lobby for the project to be done in his community as well, lo and behold there
community has been considered so he pleaded with the citizens of the area to support the people who will be doing
the work so that they can complete it successfully.
The Country Representative for Coliso, Mr. Acheampong, said their focus as an NGO is Health, Sanitation and
Water.
He urged other MPs to emulate what the Achiase MP has done so that they also collaborate with them to bring
development to their constituency.
