The Communication Director of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) for Sunyani East Constituency of the Bono Region, Abubakari Yakubu popularly known in the political circles as Baba Amando, has stated that their Member of Parliament, Hon. Kwasi Ameyaw-Cheremeh did not pay any money to f the delegates at the Sunyani East NDC primaries.
There is a rumour circulating that,Hon Kwasi Ameyaw-Cheremeh was caught and sacked for paying money to delegates at the NDC primaries in favor of Lawyer Kwabena Asuama also known as Lawyer K.
“It has come to the attention of the Communications Directorate of the New Patriotic Party ( NPP) in the Sunyani East Constituency on the above subject in the just ended NDC primaries held on Saturday, May 13th 2023 at the Jubilee Park in the Sunyani Municipality,” a release stated.
“This subject is but a palpable lie and a calculated propaganda weapon machinated by the assigns of the Parliamentary candidate elect of the National Democratic Congress, Mr Seid Mubarak at the eve of their just ended elections which inured to his benefit and subsequent victory.
“The facts are as follows to deal with these fabricated lies!;
1. The Member of Parliament of Sunyani East, who is also the presumptive candidate of the New Patriotic Party in the constituency, Hon Kwasi Ameyaw-Cheremeh would not and had no reason to have supported any of the candidates in the NDC parliamentary or Presidential race.
2. The MP has always beaten any candidate fielded by the NDC and even when they were doubled with an independent candidate who emerged from within the NPP, they were beaten without mercy because the good people of the constituency knows and have always appreciated his interventions.
3. The MP was NOT even in the country at time let alone being at the venue of the elections as wildly championed by Mr Seid Mubarak and his team when the NDC primaries was taking place as he was on a national assignment outside the shores of the Country.
4. For the avoidance of doubt, the MP was and still in Nigeria performing a national function in the EWCOWAS Parliament.
5. Furthermore, the only time the MP saw Lawyer Asiamah was a few weeks ago when they both met at a function organized by the Wangara community and he approached the MP who was seated close to the chiefs and Imams of the Wangara community to greet him.
6. The Hon Member of Parliament has chalked many successes in the constituency so much so that, it has always worked for him as evident in his previous elections.
It is therefore our fervent call that, the just elected NDC PC, Mr Seid Mubarak would eschew such obnoxious propaganda going forward and have a clear-cut campaign message to face a battle that he has lost already.
The Sunyani East Constituency has 34 electoral areas and his projects and initiatives are sitting everywhere as testimonies and so it is our hope that the New PC who won on the heals of propaganda would henceforth repent from this dastardly act because he has some 22,000 votes difference to battle with.
In conclusion, the MP has carved for himself a strong and befitting reputation than to involve himself in these petty actions or certain NDC elections that hold no bearing or threat to him,” the release stated.
The Communications Directorate of the NPP have responded to this rather unfortunate propaganda strategy used by the elect the PC. It still congratulated the winner, Mr Seid Mubarak on his victory and welcomed him to a healthy campaign of ideas and achievements but not one that is saddled with chronic propaganda and outright lies like in this case, the statement concluded.
