The Ghana Hair Dealers Association has raised serious concerns over the inflows of foreign nationals invading their businesses.
Speaking at a news conference held in Accra, the president of the association, Madam Nana Adwoa Ennifo, said last Monday May, 1st 2023, the association had a call from a true Ghanaians who intercepted a Nigeria investor who was retailing the same hair they sell it for ¢400 cedi and she has mounted an exhibition selling the same hair for ¢100 as gifts.
According to her, when the members rushed to the place the said investor took a microphone and said she has come to stay and no amount of intimidation from the Ghanaian business community will provoke her because she has passed through the necessary documentation and has the right to retail in Ghana.
She reiterated that before a foreigner can retail in the market space in Ghana the said person must go and register with GIPC and register generally.
Even though after passing through all this he/she must have a seed capital of 200 million dollars before she can start retailing and all of this was not done yet she was able to go and do exhibition and retailing the same hair for cheaper price.
The association asked who gave her the permits and how her goods entered into Ghanaian market space without passing through proper channels.
She was optimistic that the members will resist any attempt by authorities or government machinery to bring in foreigners to come and retail in Ghana.
The association will not sit down and watch a foreigner to come and destroy their businesses in Ghana.
According to her, the association welcomes any foreigner who wants to do a genuine business in Ghana they’re ready to support.
Ghana is a peace-loving country and respects the rule of law and the people are law-abiding citizens.
