Next six games after Bayern Munich second leg

My word, it took Pep Guardiola some time with this group of players, but Manchester City are currently playing like the best iteration of any Citizens outfit their Spanish boss has coached.

A once unlikely treble is very much on at the Etihad with City still fighting on three fronts after they bypassed Thomas Tuchel’s Bayern Munich in the Champions League quarter-finals.

A repeat semi-final from last season against Real Madrid awaits Guardiola’s side, who’ll play several crucial domestic fixtures before that tie rolls around.

Here’s what City’s schedule looks like over the coming weeks.

City haven’t reached the FA Cup final since they last won the competition in 2019 and have been knocked out in the semi-finals in four successive years.

However, on those occasions, City were beaten by a fellow member of the so-called ‘Big Six’, not a second tier side. Sheffield United have enjoyed quite the campaign thus far and are poised to return to the Premier League, but surely a defeat of the Citizens is beyond their capacity, right?

City’s groove couldn’t have been found at a more optimal time. This has long been dubbed a potential title-decider, and the Citizens will have the advantage of hosting the contest.

Arsenal’s recent slide has put Guardiola’s side in the drivers’ seat, but they can ill-afford to let the Gunners walk away with anything here. Momentum in the title race will once again alter should the visitors avoid defeat.

City, however, have been here before. A domestic encounter of this magnitude is new for Mikel Arteta’s young Arsenal side.

Fulham ended a rather torrid run with victory at Goodison Park at the weekend, and their primary aim is to end the season as the top west London club in the Premier League. Both Brentford and Chelsea are in close proximity.

The Cottagers will be without Aleksandar Mitrovic for City’s visit as a result of his lengthy suspension.

The Premier League encounters roll around thick and fast for the champions after their semi-final against the Blades.

City are in midweek action just days after their trip to west London. This time, though, they’re back on home soil to face West Ham. The Hammers did them a massive favour by taking two points off Arsenal, and they’ll be hoping David Moyes’ side rolls over when they clash.

City could have a big say in the relegation dogfight, and many Leeds supporters will be dreading this trip given what’s happened to their defence in recent weeks.

Javi Gracia’s side have lost their last two games by an aggregate score of 11-2. The Citizens will surely put them to the sword at the Etihad.

These two sides served up an all-timer of a semi-final this time last year, and more majesty is expected at the start of May with a place in the Champions League final on the line.

Man City’s current excellence means they’ll probably be favoured, but how could you possibly write off Carlo Ancelotti’s Real given the journey they embarked on last season. Los Blancos will host the first leg before travelling to Manchester for the reverse fixture.
