Italy are the defending champions after beating England in a penalty shootout at Euro 2020, while the likes of France, Spain, Portugal and Germany will be among the favourites to go all the way.

Here’s what we know about the teams that have qualified for Euro 2024 so far.

53 nations have been divided into ten groups, with seven groups containing five teams and three containing six teams. Each team will play everybody in their group home and away, with the winners and runners-up of each group advancing to the Euro 2024 finals.

The remaining three spots will be decided via the play-offs. These will take place in March 2024 with 12 teams taking part. These teams will be selected based on their performance in the 2022/23 Nations League, and, obviously, they mustn’t have already qualified for the finals.

Serbia didn’t live up their dark horse tag at the 2022 World Cup but look well set to march through to Euro 2024 without many issues.

Hungary and Montenegro look set to battle it out for second place, while Lithuania and Bulgaria are the minnows of Group G.

Slovenia haven’t put a foot wrong yet with six points, but a defeat to Finland got Northern Ireland off to a poor start following a painful 2-0 win over San Marino.

Group I

Yann Sommer

Switzerland got a taste of a good tournament run at Euro 2020 but have largely struggled to make a dent in men’s international football.

They should qualify for Euro 2024 without many issues, though Romania have also started with two wins from two games. Kosovo, Andorra, Israel and Belarus make up the rest of the group.

Group J

Cristiano Ronaldo

Cristiano Ronaldo isn’t giving up international football just yet. He helped Portugal to two wins to kick off Group J.

Slovakia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Iceland could all provide stern examinations for Roberto Martinez’s side, with Luxembourg and Liechtenstein making up the numbers.

Germany have qualified for Euro 2024 as tournament hosts. The nation was selected to host on 27 September 2018, having previously planned to host the multi-country Euro 2020, which took place in 2021 due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
