The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Kintampo South Hon. Opoku Nyame, has informed the people of the district that he is only doing his work according to the law of the country.
The Hon DCE explained his side of the story that he and the coordinating Director has auctioned some vehicles that belong to the assembly.
He attested to the fact that it was true that some unserviceable vehicles have been auctioned, but it was not within the powers of the assembly to auction properties but a directive from the government in compliance with the law.
Furthermore, he only acted according to the laws governing auctioning of government properties upon receiving a letter from the office of the chief of staff in Accra, to do the same.
He added that after the assumption of office, the Kintampo South District Assembly was queried in 2022 by external auditors for not auctioning those unserviceable vehicles belonging to the district assembly
Hon. Opoku Nyame added again that, he is much surprise that the assembly member said he is not aware of the auction because it appears several times at their meetings in the assembly, and even before the auction it was published in *Ghanaian times* on the 20th February 2023 and subsequently, a notice of auction posted at the premises of the District Assembly assembly, even in Jema township, so he wondered why some of the assembly members will come out to say they are not aware.
