Torino host their city rivals Juventus in the first Turin derby of the Serie A season on Saturday evening.

Il Toro’s only three league wins of the campaign have been against the division’s trio of newly promoted teams. Juventus, conversely, were dealt a humiliating defeat by Monza during their worst start to a Serie A season in seven years.

I Bianconeri compounded their domestic woes by slumping to a galling loss at the hands of Champions League minnows Maccabi Haifa on Tuesday night. In a bid to stop the rot, the team are entering retiro, staying at the training base’s J-hotel to prepare for the game on Saturday.

Here’s everything you need to know about the 207th Derby della Mole.

Torino team news

Unlike their Turin neighbours, Torino have been fortunate with fitness concerns – or a lack thereof – this season. Ivan Juric is expected to have a squad unblemished by injury at his disposal this Saturday.

Torino Starting 11 (3-4-2-1): Milinkovic-Savic; Djidji, Schuurs, Rodriguez; Aina, Lukic, Linetty, Lazaro; Miranchuk, Vlasic; Sanabria.
Bench: Berisha, Karamoh, Pellegri, Vojvoda, Ricci, Singo, Bayeye, Buongiorno, Adopo.

Juventus team news

Angel Di Maria will not be part of Juve’s punitive retiro after pulling up with a hamstring problem against Maccabi in midweek. The Argentina international is only expected to miss three weeks but he joins the likes of Paul Pogba (knee), Mattia De Sciglio (thigh) and Marley Ake (ankle) in the treatment room.

Kaio Jorge remains sidelines with a persistent tendon problem but Federico Chiesa has steadily increased his involvement in training.

Juventus Starting 11 (4-4-2): Szczesny; Danilo, Bremer, Bonucci, Sandro; McKennie, Locatelli, Rabiot, Kostic; Vlahovic, Milik.
Bench: Perin, Cuadrado, Kean, Miretti, Rugani, Soule, Paredes, Gatti, Fagioli.

Torino have a truly abysmal record in the derby. In a run stretching back to 1995, the Granata have claimed just one Serie A victory against Juventus from their last 32 matches (D8 L23). The last time Torino even kept a clean sheet against their city rivals was back in 2008.

However, there have been precious few instances during that run when Juve have been as underwhelming as the iteration which limps into Saturday’s fixture. The Bianconeri haven’t won a single game away from home all season, scoring just twice in six matches on the road.

Torino have a good chance of earning their first derby win in seven years, offering another test of Andrea Agnelli’s loyalty to Massimiliano Allegri.

Prediction: Torino 2-1 Juventus
