Ghana’s Inflation Hits 37.2 In Sept. 2022-GSSĀ

The Ghana Statistical Service in its bi-weekly release has pegged the country’s monthly Consumer Price Index at 38.2%, up from the previous 35.2 % in August.
This was announced at the press briefing at the organization’s conference room on the 12thĀ  of this month.
According to the Government Statistician, the highest build-up was utilities with a rate of 68.8; Household equipment at 51.5; Transport at 46.8%, Food, and Non-food beverages at 42.6%, etc.
The least for the month was Education at 8.3%.
This month’s inflation covered all 16 regions, unlike previous ones. Food inflation was 38.7 with a 2.2 monthly difference; Nonfood was 36.8 with1.7 % monthly difference; Locally Produced Items inflation was 35.8% and Imported Items inflation was 40.7 %.Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Ā  Items in the inflation basket were 47,877 from 57 markets with prices collected from 8337 outlets.
As usual, Greater and Ashanti topped with 34.7 and 27.9 respectively and the last region was North East with 0.6 % inflation.
He disclosed that from January to June this year food inflation increased by 22%.
