Jules Kounde will undergo a medical on Thursday afternoon ahead of his imminent move to Barcelona, 90min understands.
Kounde has been the subject of a protracted transfer saga this summer, with both Chelsea and Barca battling it out for his services.
Last week it seemed that Chelsea had finally secured his signature. However, 90min understands that Barca have swooped in at the eleventh hour, and Kounde is now set to sign for the Catalan giants.
A payment plan has been agreed between the two clubs, with Barcelona paying €50m up front with €10m to come in add-ons.
Now, 90min understands that Kounde will undergo a medical at Camp Nou on Thursday, with an official announcement set to follow shortly after.
Kounde is not the first player that Barcelona have beaten Chelsea to this summer. The Blues had also been keen to sign Raphinha, before the Brazilian also opted for a move to Xavi’s side.
The two clubs could be forced to the negotiating table again before the transfer window slams shut. Barca remain interested in both Cesar Azpilicueta and Marcos Alonso this summer, though whether those moves will proceed remains to be seen.
