Indian Super League (ISL) side, Odisha FC have reached an agreement with fellow ISL side, Mumbai City FC to take midfielder, Raynier Fernandes on a season-long loan ahead of the upcoming season.

Fernandes had joined the Islanders in 2018 and in 2020 had signed a three-year extension with them, which would see him stay with the club till the summer of 2023. However, the midfielder will now ply his trade for Odisha in the upcoming season – though there are still no details on whether he will stay with them after next season.

The 26-year-old who began his career with Air India, came into prominence in 2016 when he moved to Indian footballing giants, Mohun Bagan. His impressive performances for them saw Mumbai City come calling for his services in 2018 and he has ensured that he has been a regular member of their playing XI.

Fernandes made 75 appearances in all competitions for the Islanders, scoring three goals – while also making three appearances for the India national team. The India international will no doubt add steel and bite to Odisha’s midfield and it will be interesting to see how he performs for his new club in the upcoming ISL season.
