The elected polling station and electoral area coordinators of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Akuapem North Constituency have appealed to the national party to quickly resolve the impasse that prevented the regional election.

Hon. Nana Dokua Asiamah Adjei, they said, succeeded in preventing the constituency from participating in the regional elections and bringing shame and embarrassment to the constituency but no more because that is enough.

“We are very sad not because of the humiliation we are suffering or because of the embarrassment our constituency is going through, but sad because our pain, embarrassment and our shame are brought upon us by our own MP Hon. Dokua.”

“The person to represent our interest is now actively working against our interest and she is doing it with excitement. The pain, the shame and the agony with this experience is incomparable,” they said.

A statement issued at a press conference by the elected coordinators recently chronicled how the MP allegedly manipulated the sale of forms, the vetting and the area elections despite best efforts and compromises from feuding parties.

This compromise, they said, eventually paved the way for successful electoral area elections without further incidence on 22nd May, 2022 and the constituency elections subsequently scheduled for 25th May, 2022.

They said, “We have been sitting in numerous meetings deep into the night listening to candidates’ campaigning.”

“Some of us were out of the constituency for private business, others also have their workplaces outside the constituency had all come back to the constituency to participate in the elections.”

“Meetings back to back, listening to campaigns all day and then on 24th May 2022 only to see a copy of a court writ around 8pm on 24th May, 2022 restraining the EC from proceeding with the constituency elections. And guess whose name was on the writ, Emilia Awuku, someone the MP attempted to insert into the album.”

Emelia, they said, claimed to have won an election at a polling station but her name was removed from the album when she did not even contest at all let alone win or lose.

According to them, the second applicant on the writ, one Godfred Ampadu is a house boy of the MP and lives in her house at Akropong.

“Godfred contested the election at Akropong Presby JHS, Daakye in the full glare of the public and lost the elections. He got 28 votes against his opponent who got 84 votes,” the statement said.

The elected coordinators stated the confidence with which these two lied to the courts in their statements when there are incontrovertible facts in both video and pictures is baffling.

They disclosed Emelia has now made a U-turn and denied knowledge of any court process and indicated she has not authorized anyone to do anything in her name.

The coordinators claimed though the MP used lies and wickedness to foist the most difficult treatment on them they are ready to put it behind them and move on.

“After punishing us in such a harsh manner, the last thing we expect from her is further pain and we would advise her to stop peddling the lies or else we put out even more of her callousness.”

“We only appeal to the National Party Headquarters who have been sued by the MP using the name of one of her assigns to quickly address the court issue so we can proceed to also elect the leadership of our party in this constituency,” they said.
