The All India Football Federation (AIFF) general secretary, Kushal Das on Sunday called for a meeting of all the state units following Supreme Courts decision to form a three-member Committee of Administrators (CoA) to take over the daily workings of the national body.
It is understood that Kushal called for an informal virtual meeting of presidents and secretaries of member State associations “to give an update on the recent order of the Honourable Supreme Court”, with former president, Praful Patel too set to be in attendance.
However, a state official believes that Das does not have the authority to call for a meeting with consulting the CoA as he is only a paid official and not an elected member of the AIFF committee which was formerly headed by Patel.
“There is no president and executive committee of AIFF now. [Kushal] is under CoA and his reporting authority is CoA. How can he call such a meeting without keeping CoA in the loop? I think [Kushal] has not even sent a copy of the meeting invite to the CoA,” the official said, as quoted by Sportstar.
There has been no update on whether Das will retain his post considering that the Patel led executive committee is no longer in charge of the AIFF – though PTI recently reported that as per S. Y. Quraishi, one of the members of the CoA, he could continue in his job.
