Leeds beat Brentford on the final day with a wonderful late strike from Jack Harrison – relegating Burnley, who lost 2-1 to Newcastle, in the process.

Speaking after the game to Sky Sports, Marsch, who replaced the beloved Marcelo Bielsa as manager at the start of March, was full of praise for his players.

“Hot day, not easy for either team but we got the lead which was really important,” the American said. “I thought the start of the match was really good but then when we were up two men we still didn’t want to leave it up to fate and so we were trying to push for the winner to make sure that we could secure our fate the way we wanted to.

“In four games that I’ve been here this team has found a way to dig deep in injury time and find winners, find goals that get us draws.
