The Portland Timbers have added forward Nathan Fogaça to the roster, signing the player for the remainder of the 2022 season with club options for 2023 and 2024.

He first joined the senior team’s reserve squad T2 in April from Brazilian side Coritiba, where recorded one goal and one assist during his time. The forward also saw a successful 2021 season in the USL Championship on loan with San Antonio FC. He made 34 appearances, managing a team-high 13 goals and four assists.

Fogaça initially kicked off his professional career in Brazil with Coritiba in 2018, with 12 appearances in the Campeonato Brasileiro Série A after the team was promoted in 2020.

The move comes at a great time for the Timbers, who have seen a turbulent start to the 2022 Major League Soccer campaign. After hosting the MLS Cup last season, the Western Conference giants have managed only two victories this season to reach 10th place on the table.

The team lost key figure Felipe Mora to a knee injury, likely keeping the center forward out until the summer.
