In a bid to rally support for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) ahead of the 2024 general elections, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of Abuakwa North, Hon. Dr. Alhaji Umar Babs Bodinga, participated in a cleanup campaign organized by the NPP Loyal Ladies at the New Tafo Akim Market. The event aimed not only to beautify the market area but also to canvas votes for the NPP’s presidential candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, and the parliamentary candidate for the constituency, Nana Kwame Addo Ampaw Frempong, popularly known as Chief Buffalo.
Addressing the market women and participants at the event, Hon. Dr. Alhaji Umar Babs Bodinga emphasized the need for continued support for the NPP to sustain its flagship programs, including the Free Senior High School (SHS) policy. He cautioned that a vote for the opposition party, the National Democratic Congress (NDC), could lead to the discontinuation of these crucial educational initiatives, which he believes have significantly benefited Ghanaians, particularly the youth.
Highlighting the achievements of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the MCE praised the NPP’s focus on digitalization and industrialization, describing them as transformative policies that have positioned Ghana on a path to sustainable economic growth. He argued that these initiatives represent the “big solutions” needed to modernize the country’s economy and create more opportunities for citizens.
Dr. Alhaji Umar Babs Bodinga also warned the market traders of the potential return of “dumsor”—a term used to describe erratic power supply—if the NDC is voted into power. He stressed that reliable electricity is critical for the success of businesses, especially those operating in market areas, and urged the women to support the NPP to prevent the recurrence of such power challenges.
Madam Mercy Offeibea, the President of the Abuakwa North NPP Loyal Ladies, also spoke at the event, encouraging the group’s members and all NPP supporters to work diligently to retain the party in power. She emphasized Dr. Bawumia’s commitment to empowering the youth, particularly women, through economic and leadership opportunities if elected. She urged everyone to rally behind the NPP, stressing that their support is crucial for the future prosperity of the nation.
Madam Offeibea passionately called on the youth to seize this opportunity to secure their future by actively participating in the campaign to ensure victory for Dr. Bawumia and Chief Buffalo in the upcoming elections. She assured them that their collective efforts would be rewarded through the creation of more jobs and development initiatives aimed at uplifting women and young people across the constituency.
The cleanup campaign also saw the participation of key NPP figures, including electoral area coordinators and the former Research and Elections Officer for Abuakwa North, Mr. Asare Gyekye Emmanuel. Their presence reinforced the party’s dedication to grassroots mobilization and its commitment to working hand-in-hand with the community to achieve a resounding victory in the 2024 elections.
The event not only promoted environmental cleanliness but also served as a platform to strengthen the party’s grassroots support and spread the NPP’s message of development, progress, and a brighter future for all Ghanaians under the leadership of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and Chief Buffalo.
