63RD REPUBLIC DAY COMMEMORATED @ BLACK STAR SQUARE

The Director-General of the Ghana Education Service (GES), Dr Eric Nkansah joined the Deputy Chief of Staff at the Office of the President, Hon Adumua-Bossman, other esteemed guests, Student Cadets and Youth groups from all sixteen (16) regions to commemorate Ghana’s 63rd Republic Day with a Republic Day School Cadets Parade at the Black Star Square.
As part of activities marking the day, the Deputy Chief of Staff recognized and presented awards to the following individuals for their diverse contributions towards the work of the student cadets and the National Cadet Corps at large.
The award winners under the year of review were:
1. Best Master-In-Charge: Mr Samuel Kwamena Yawson, a French and Geography teacher at Fijai Senior High School.
2. Head of Institution: Rev Father Stephen Owusu Sekyere, Headmaster, Opoku Ware School.
3. Best Regional Director of Education: Mr Stephen Kwaku Owusu.
In his speech, the Director-General emphasized that the cadet is a miniature security force/service in schools helping to maintain discipline, safety and security on campuses.
In recognition, the Ghana Education Service gives the activities of the cadet corps as a critical component of the school system in shaping our future leaders.
The Director General also congratulated all school cadets for participating in the Drill and Band Competitions for
distinguishing themselves so well.
GES encourages all schools to embrace the cadet corps to help inculcate a sense of patriotism in our students.
